His first book was brilliant and put forth his ideas in a comprehensive way.
This book is ridiculous. FPGAs are mentioned only briefly - understandable, since they had not acquired the importance given them by the decade-plus of technology shifts since the book was written. It was very nice and arrived very fast.. But as Baron points out, the pencil is itself a technological marvel, one that required as much engineering know-how in its day as the iPad does now. Based on these qualifications, I think this book is very good. Believe it or not, if you've never read an expert's advice about these tools, you'll find that you still have a lot to learn, especially about safety. I GROK this book.. Perhaps the best those of us with a nostalgic streak can hope for is that some of the older ones will continue to coexist with the newer ones at least for a few more decades.. A bit of an odd setup.
