The approach for this book reminds me of the old "compare and contrast" essay assignments from college. I did learn a thing or two in the process of reading this book! So was the book worth it? I would say yes!. There are several panels that opt for a "minimalist" (if I'm using that term properly) style, which eludes details particularly during the flurry of motion. The script supervisor does way more than just supervise continuity -- the old title "continuity girl" may be responsible for this misunderstanding -- she/he keeps the closest track of all elements of the shoot, advises the director and DP on the famous 180 line (especially tricky in moving shots), helps the actors keep track of their lines, records all changes and selects and setups, and in general makes sure that at the end of the day the director has gotten everything needed to edit a coherent film. If that's what you're after, consider a good set of videos, like the ATI series.
