HIGHLY recommended for anyone who is in EMS. Having said that, its refreshing to read a book which is totally honest to the basic facts of life that people get injured, ill and inevitably we all die. Also notable is the driven and hyper-focused pediatrician Carleton Gajdusek who left a comfortable life in research on infantile paralysis to impulsively travel to New Guinea to live with cannibals for several years to study kuru (similar to Mad Cow Disease). In this book we learn about how they came into being, and at the same time we are alos exposed to a wealth of knowledge about traditional Irish nmusic. If they are only going to be a daisy for one year they might not make very good use of it but it would still be nice for them to have and read on their own. It's not trying to fix anything.
